Blogs are for Losers

I really have no idea why I started a blog. Ok, that a lie. Some friends told me I would be good at it because I have a natural inclination towards humor. Let's face it, far worse crimes have been committed via ego stroking than starting a BLOG. I cannot stand the word "blog", by the way. It sounds like blot and blob and log and glob and those are all words that I hate. I am going to start referring to it as my "fireside chat." I always wanted to reveal my Rooseveltian side.

So anyway, I kind of do think that blogs are for losers. I don't really read any consistently. I tell my friends I read theirs, but that is kind of hit-or-miss. Sorry girls, its true. And feel free to ignore my blog in return for my inconsideration. Its one thing to have a blog if you are getting married, getting ready to have a baby, have kids, have an interesting life. . . then a blog is a useful tool to keep your family and friends apprised of what is hip and hot in your life. I think in the olden days of yore people used telephones for that. But I can see how the blog makes one-stop information sharing very handy. In the case of me, I kind of think I am being too self-absorbed; presuming that the rest of the world wants to read about my daily comings and goings. I am even more curious about the kind of people who want to read about my daily comings and goings. Very voyeuristic. Very reality show. Very disappointing if you think you are going to see something juicy.

I was actually going to call my entire fireside chat "Blogs are for Losers" but then I had this vision of my blog gaining great notoriety and being featured in magazines and maybe turned into a book. I imagined myself on a couch with Meredith Vieira (my mom would be so proud! "Today" is her favorite program!) trying to explain to the blogosphere why I think blogs are for losers. Just in case my blog brings me great fame and fortune, I decided to go with a less biting title. More on the title choice later.

So I have done two things this week that I swore I would never do. I read Harry Potter and I started a blog (aka fireside chat). I am so mainstream now. Its sickening. I might as well just watch Titanic ** and have a trifecta of lame.

**Don't tell me how it ends. Hardy har har.
